A sampler in wooden frame worked by Ann Ingham (donor's great-aunt) aged 9 in 1839. It shows a cat above "Love not sleep lest thou come to poverty Ann Ingham Work Aged 9 1839" over garden.
The quote comes from the Bible - Proverbs, 20:13. The quote continues, 'open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread'. It is advice to get adequate sleep, but not to desire sleep beyond all other things.
