Reg no: RW 6415. Throughout the 1920s, the reputation of the ‘Trusty Triumph’ motorcycle continued to grow, building on its known reliability during World War I.

The arrival of the Model P in 1924 was the sensation of the season – a 500cc side valve machine priced at an incredible £42.17.6d, being way below anything comparable on the market. This saw a great upsurge in public demand yet the factory were equal to the challenge and in some cases managed to produce an amazing 1000 units per week.

With such a low price tag came a few short-cuts in design and production quality. The result was that the model P did not reach the high standard that dealers and the public alike had come to expect from Triumph. It was not until the much improved Mark II was released that faith was restored in the company, who learned quickly that cutting corners was not the way to keep their customers.
