Herbert Art Gallery and Museum
This is the plaque from the new Coventry Union Infirmary building which opened in 1889. The plaque lists the members of the Board of Guardians at the time, which include Sidney Cash (chair of J and J Cash ribbon manufacturer) and William Lee, who was mayor of Coventry five times from 1906.
The infirmary was part of the Workhouse complex based around the old Whitefriars monastery building. The infirmary and other building became part of the Gulson Road Hospital and much of the site is now part of Coventry University.
