By John Smith (doctor in physic) of a Corley messuage (lately occupied by Thomas Barfott, now or lately by Thomas Holbeche) with (a) Home Close or Hovel Close, Home Meadow, Gatefield Close which was called Cornerfield, Gatefield Close [sic] and Ryegrass Close or Rye Green Field (these last three now laid into one), the Beeches close (once in three parts, two of which were Great Beech Field and Little Beech Field, the other Walls Meadow) (Rye Green Close and Walls Meadow used to be part of Broom Close) and Crab Tree Close (formerly Crab Tree Close and Ford's Croft) - which as Home Close, Home Meadow, Corner Field Close, Gate Field Close, the two Beech Fields and (b) Crab Tree Close were purchased by the late Bartholomew Smith from Christopher Hales, Thomas Hales and James Hales, whereas Rye Green Close and Walls Meadow were bought by B. Smith from Henry Smith and his wife Mary, Ford's Croft was bought by Joseph Smith from Peter Ford et al, all now held by Thomas Holbeche ((a),(b) total c.40a.); plus (c) closes on the southern side of the Corley Moor to Corley church lane, formerly called Daw Field, Dawfield Meadow, the Paddocks and Little Close between the Paddocks and the Dawfield (formerly in more divisions but known as Broom Field, Nether Field and the Meadow beyond the Pitt (sometime in two parts), Dawfield, Upper Field Close and Puddle Paddock or Upper Paddock) - all this second set was lately occupied by T. Holbeche, purchased by B. Smith and J. Smith from Henry Field, his wife Mary and Mary Smyth; (d) Jane Hill (5a.), lately held by T. Holbeche, which J. Smith bought from Blencowe Churchill; (e) common of pasture upon Corley Moor; and (f) a front pew with adjacent back seat in Corley church, used with the same messuage: all to the use of Edward King and his heirs.
