This draper owned Greyfriars' spire between Mar., 1699 and Feb., 1718 (O.S.): for that and other land that he owned thereabouts, see CCA/2/3/135/8-9; CCA/2/3/472/1,2,8. Critchlow was in 1683 a St. Michael's churchwarden. His granddaughter married Patrick Simpson (q.v.), Independent minister - see CCA/2/3/803/2-3: PA138/1. A chamberlain, 1686. Critchlow owned a close near Little Pudding Croft (BA/A/B/40/8) and crofts outside New Gate (1689 - PA96/32/1), and occupied a Much Park st. messuage (BA/A/G/2/3) and land at Gaddesby in Leicestershire (1696 - BA/D/K/26/6). He was involved in a dispute with the Drapers' Company (c.1700 - BA/L/B/2/11,2). See PA55/28/1(w). PA55/3/1 mentions the spire's sale. He was a participant in the indenture of return for the 1689 election (PA96/59/1). Critchlow had an interest in the Drapers' Hall from 1694, although thereunder he was not due to take up his tenancy of parts of the property until 1710 - see PA468/5/3/1/3. See BA/H/Q/F8/1/65. He was mortgagee of the Berkswell messuage called Hodgetts, 1696 - 1701 (see PA491/31/3,4). He had a Broadgate house and shops - see CCA/2/3/135/5(d).
