This London phrenologist instructed George Eliot in organology. She attended his lectures in 1845. A regular visitor at Rosehill, Charles Bray's house in Coventry, Donovan was one of the intellectuals which formed the 'Rosehill Group'. See VCH, 'Warwickshire', vol. 8.
