In consideration of £23/15/- paid by Cleophas Dullison (carrier) and his trustee Thomas Lawson (butcher), both of Coventry, to Benjamin Newland (brickmaker) and of 5/- apiece to him and his trustee Joseph Freeth (maltster), both of Coventry, of Cleophas Dullison and Thomas Lawson with a parcel outside Greyfriars' Gate, having a 9-yard frontage south-east to a causeway, and depth from the causeway south-westwards to Pudding Croft for 30 yards, extending 10 yards towards the west or north-west (being bounded east or south-east by the causeway towards Bull Fields, west or south-west by land which William Stokes (of Coventry, silkweaver) has bought from Benjamin Newland, on the west or north-west by Pudding Croft, and on the north or north-east by B. Newland's brickyard), the parcel being part of Croft Close which, occupied by him, Newland bought from John Joyce (of Coventry, presser) and his wife Mary (daughter and heiress of the late [draper] William Keeling) as devisee under the terms of a 7 May 1760 indenture wherein the Joyces were of the first part, Newland of the second and Joseph Freeth of the third); covenants for further assurance within ten years (travelling at most five miles to do so) and to produce deeds. Livery of seisin endorsed.
